Support Safe Neighborhood Streets – HB 5253 / SB 2725
Safe Neighborhood Streets represents a significant step toward improving road safety in residential areas by granting municipalities greater flexibility to set appropriate speed limits. This legislation streamlines the process for local governments to lower speed limits to 20 or 25 mph in neighborhoods, without requiring costly engineering studies for little residential streets.
This bill is currently “in committee,” so it is best just for people who live in their districts to contact the members of the committee. If your State Representative or Senator are not on the Transportation committees, the form will provide you an option to send them a letter supporting all the good safety bills for now.
Support Safe Passing – HB 535
HB 535 is an important piece of legislation designed to improve safety for all of us when we are legalizing using streets and roads outside of cars–even when you’re changing a flat on your truck. This bill establishes clear, statewide guidelines that when we’re driving, we have to keep our vehicle at least three feet away from a human and pass them safely.
This form will only let you send letters if your Representative is on the House Transportation Committee. If this form tells you you can’t send a letter, you can send a general letter to support using the form for Safe Neighborhood Streets above.
